Tips & tricks

From "Baby pebble" to "Legendary splat."

Play Gooby Drop

Most first runs end somewhere around 100 to 250 meters. The players who reach the core aren't faster. They're calmer.

Five habits that matter most

  1. Eyes down. Watch the wall that's coming, not Gooby and not his caption.
  2. Small slides. Steering is amplified. Tiny thumb moves are enough.
  3. Arrive early. Get under the gap as soon as you see it, then hold still.
  4. Commit. Changing your mind halfway is the number one cause of splats.
  5. Restart right away. One tap. Short sessions build muscle memory faster.

Reading the walls

Single gaps

Early on the gaps are huge. Use the sky to practice gliding into position and stopping cleanly.

Double gaps

Each gap is narrower than a single one. Pick the gap closer to where Gooby already is, unless a spiky ball is heading that way.

Moving gaps

Don't chase the gap. Park Gooby at the center of its swing and wait for the gap to come to you as the wall arrives.

Combo strategy

Close calls give a bonus that grows with every consecutive one. To farm combos, line up just inside one edge of each gap instead of the center. It's risky, so only try it once you can reach 300 meters reliably.

Common mistakes

A five-minute practice plan

  1. Three runs where you only try to stop dead under each gap.
  2. Three runs focusing on spiky ball direction.
  3. Three runs following the donuts.
  4. Then play normally and watch your best score climb.
